Virtual Workshop: Exploring TI-Nspire™ Technology and Learning to Code

Workshop overview

This workshop is designed for educators who are interested in TI-Nspire™ technology in the mathematics classroom and want an introduction to coding in the context of high school mathematics.

Learn a wide range of TI-Nspire™ technology skills so that you’ll be comfortable using premade TI-Nspire™ Documents and have basic skills in graphing, geometry and other applications of TI-Nspire™ technology. Also, you will be introduced to basic coding for your students, building upon the lessons from TI’s 10 Minutes of Code. We will cover key principles including logic, selection statements and loops.

Day one workshop topics will include an:

  • Overview of the TI-Nspire™ graphing calculator, including general calculator, graphing and statistical functionality
  • Exploration of dynamic, interactive lessons for algebra I, geometry, algebra II, precalculus, calculus and statistics
  • Introduction to basic features of TI-Nspire™ Teacher Software

During day two of this workshop, participants will learn to:

  • Use the TI-Basic program editor to create and run programs
  • Use simple editing features to insert and delete entries or lines of code
  • Evaluate expressions and store them as variables
  • Recognize programing features including conditions, relational operators, logical operators, and simple and compound conditions
  • Perform the basic steps for debugging a simple program

  • TI-Nspire™ CX II graphing calculator and TI-Nspire™ CX Premium Teacher Software
  • TI-Nspire™ CX II CAS graphing calculator and TI-Nspire™ CX Premium Teacher Software
