Workshop overview

NCTM’s "Principles to Actions" states, “Effective teaching of mathematics engages students in making connections among mathematical representations to deepen understanding of mathematics concepts and procedures and as tools for problem solving.”

This one-day workshop will provide participants the opportunity to see how the TI-84 Plus family of graphing calculators facilitates students’ development of functional fluency, problem-solving, and working with equations and systems using assorted representations. A primary focus will be to use the TI-SmartView™ CE emulator software for the TI-84 Plus graphing family to support students’ understanding of mathematical concepts and relationships; effective techniques will be modeled. Question and writing prompts will be shared, as well as classroom-ready materials.
