During online registration, you will select from one of four breakout sessions offered during each time slot.

Session 1 | Valuable Tips for the TI-84 Plus Family of Graphing Calculators and TI-SmartView™ CE Emulator Software

For new and experienced users – get creative, cool and essential ideas to utilize the TI-83 and TI-84 Plus graphing calculator and its color version, the TI-84 Plus CE, much more effectively.

  • Easily evaluate complex expressions
  • Trace on a graph and table simultaneously
  • Quickly evaluate the quadratic formula
  • Store window settings
  • Investigate transformation graphing with lists
  • Plus get tips on how to fully utilize TI-SmartView™ CE emulator software

This session also addresses:

  • How the TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator differs from other TI-84 Plus graphing calculators
  • Overview of the TI-84 Plus CE color graphing calculator, basic computation and graphing and functionality

Session 2 | Getting Started With TI-Nspire™ CX II Technology

  • Overview of the TI-Nspire™ CX II graphing calculator, including general calculator, graphing and statistical functionality
  • Exploration of new features of the TI-Nspire™ CX II graphing calculator
  • Exploration of dynamic, interactive lessons for algebra I, geometry, algebra II, precalculus, calculus and statistics
  • Introduction to basic features of TI-Nspire™ CX Premium Teacher Software

Session 3 | Learning to Code With the TI-Innovator™ Hub Using TI-84 Plus CE and TI-Nspire™ CX Technology

  • This session is designed for educators interested in introducing coding to their students using the TI-Innovator™ Hub
  • Extend the lessons seen in the 10 Minutes of Code with TI-Innovator™ Technology to excite students in learning the code to control the TI-Innovator™ Hub and the built-in sensors, including light and sound
  • Engage your students with the latest technology, preparing them for the next stage to explore real-world STEM applications

Session 4 | Data Collection: Connecting Science and Math With TI-84 Plus CE and TI-Nspire™ CX Technology

  • This session will focus on integrating key science and mathematics concepts with TI technology
  • Learn to connect science and math principles that engage students and allow them to transfer their knowledge across disciplines
  • Explore simulations and data-collection activities from TI 84 Central and Science Nspired and discuss integrating them into your classrooms

Session 5 | Exploring Algebra Topics With TI-84 Plus CE Technology

Utilizing the TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator, we will explore topics such as:

  • Linear functions and systems
  • Functions and relations
  • Quadratic, exponential, radical and rational functions
  • Probability

Session 6 | Next Steps With TI-Nspire™ CX Technology in High School Mathematics

Learn how TI-Nspire™ technology facilitates reasoning, sense-making and understanding in an interactive mathematics classroom:

  • Review of TI-Nspire™ CX II graphing calculator capabilities
  • Investigations into transformational geometry
  • Exploration of dynamic, interactive lessons with premade student questions and teacher notes
  • Function investigation by creating a TI-Nspire™ Document with sliders

Session 7 | Learning to Code With the TI-Innovator™ Rover

This session is designed for teachers interested in introducing coding with the TI-Innovator™ Rover to their students. This session will highlight lessons that include topics that will engage your students in new and exciting ways, such as programming the TI-Innovator™ Rover to:

  • Drive a path
  • Draw geometric shapes
  • Move along the XY coordinate plane

Session 8 | Supporting Student Thinking Through a Growth Mindset and Productive Struggle

Open-ended struggle is the key to learning. This session will focus on providing opportunities that encourage a growth mindset that allow students to struggle productively in developing their “math and science sense.” Let’s discuss what this looks like in your classroom.

Session 9 | Exploring Algebra Topics With TI-84 Plus CE Technology

Utilizing the TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator, we will explore algebra topics such as:

  • Functions: Linear functions, systems and relations

Session 10 | Developing Deeper Conceptual Understanding to Prepare for the ACT® Math Test Using TI-84 Plus CE and TI-Nspire™ CX Technology

Students who only excel at procedural fluency (memorizing steps and formulas) will have a tough time on the math section of the redesigned ACT® test. What is needed?

This session will explore:

  • A deeper understanding of the concepts
  • How we can leverage TI technology to meet our goals
  • Activities and ideas that promote conceptual understanding

Session 11 | Making Math and Science Meaningful With the TI-Innovator™ Hub and Rover

This session is designed for teachers interested in introducing the TI-Innovator™ Hub and Rover to their students. Participants will choose from math and science lessons that include topics that will engage students in new and exciting ways, such as:

  • Exploring the relationships between distance, rate and time
  • Designing and measuring a segmented path
  • Classifying species by working through a dichotomous key and putting the Rover through a battery of tests and observing the Rover’s behavior

Session 12 | STEM Camps, Clubs and Classroom Projects With the TI-Innovator™ Hub

This session is designed for math and science teachers interested in introducing STEM projects in the classroom or in summer camps with the TI-Innovator™ Hub and either TI-84 Plus CE or TI-Nspire™ CX II technology.

  • Guide students on the path to building their own STEM projects with activities that challenge them to address current real-world issues
  • Understand the science and math behind TI’s Pet Car Alarm With TI-Innovator™ Project
  • Use math, computer programming and engineering to design and build models to solve current problems


2:30 – 4 p.m. | Second Afternoon Sessions


Session 13 | Using the TI-84 Plus CE Graphing Calculator for Success on the Texas EOC Exams in Eighth Grade Math and Algebra

How do you focus students’ approach to the eighth grade math STAAR® Test and Algebra I EOC exam so they answer more questions and score higher? Join this session to discuss strategies that help students transition from instruction to assessment. Explore how using TI technology can help students analyze problems, data and statistics and make predictions based on a variety of representations.

Session 14 | Using TI-Nspire™ CX Technology for Success on the Texas EOC Exams in Eighth Grade Math and Algebra
