9 – 10:30 a.m. | Session One

Learning to Code With TI Graphing Technology

  • This session is designed for educators interested in introducing coding to their students using TI-84 Plus CE or TI-Nspire™ CX handhelds
  • Building upon the lessons from 10 Minutes of Code, the session introduces the basics of coding principles including logic, selection statements, loops, etc.
  • The principles of coding will be connected to many concepts in the math and science curriculum to increase student understanding
  • By the end, you should be comfortable with using TI-Basic and the transferrable skills to move to the next stage in coding

Valuable Tips and Tricks for the TI-84 Plus Family of Graphing Calculators

For new and experienced users – get 13 creative, cool and essential ideas to utilize the TI-83/84 Plus and its color version, the TI-84 Plus CE, much more effectively.

  • Easily evaluate complex expressions
  • Trace on a graph and table simultaneously

Learning to Code With the TI-Innovator™ Hub (TI-84 Plus CE and TI-Nspire™ Technology)

  • This session is designed for educators interested in introducing coding to their students using the TI-Innovator™ Hub with TI Launchpad™ Board
  • Extend the lessons seen in the 10 Minutes of Code with TI-Innovator™ technology to excite students in learning the code to control the TI-Innovator™ Hub and the built-in sensors, including light and sound
  • Engage your students with the latest technology, preparing them for the next stage to explore real-world STEM applications

Next Steps With TI-Nspire™ Technology in High School Mathematics

  • Review of TI-Nspire™ handheld capabilities
  • Exploration of dynamic, interactive lessons with pre-made student questions and teacher notes
  • Function investigation by creating a TI-Nspire™ document with sliders

Exploring Precalculus and Calculus Topics With TI-84 Plus CE Technology (Calculator and Software)

  • Modeling Various Functions – statistical regression, choosing the best model, interpolating/extrapolating information

This session is designed for math and science teachers interested in introducing STEM projects in the classroom or in summer camps with the TI-Innovator™ Hub with TI-Launchpad™ Board and either TI-84 Plus CE or TI-Nspire CX technology.

  • Guide students on the path to building their own STEM projects with activities that challenge them to address current real world issues
  • Understand the science behind the greenhouse effect and other science principles, and use math, computer programming and engineering to design and build models to solve current problems

Zombie Apocalypse I: STEM of the Living Dead (TI-84 Plus CE and TI-Nspire™ Technology)

  • Graphing geometric progression and an S curve, interpreting data and making predictions
  • Understanding the function of various parts of the human brain
  • Investigating and discussing factors dealing with immunity and vaccines
