Solution 11971: Method for Calculating i^i on a TI-83 Plus Family, TI-84 Plus Family, Or TI-Nspire™ Handheld In TI-84 Plus Mode.

Why does the TI-83 Plus family, TI-84 Plus family, or TI-Nspire handheld in TI-84 Plus mode say that i^i = .2078795764?

The result can be computed using Euler's formula:

eip = -1

Taking the square root of both sides of the above equation yields the result:

eip/2 = i

Raising both sides to the ith power yields:

ii = e-p/2 = .2078795764

The ith root of i can be computed similarly.

Please see the TI-83 family and TI-84 Plus family guidebooks for additional information.
