Celebrate Jack Kilby Day

Posted 09/05/2017 by Texas Instruments

Use these fun, free resources to teach students how STEM can change the world

Fifty-nine years ago on September 12, Texas Instruments engineer Jack Kilby ushered in the era of modern electronics when he shared his invention of the integrated circuit (IC). Jack's world-changing creation began with one small spark of curiosity. We believe his story can inspire students everywhere that it only takes one small spark to change the world.

Use these resources to introduce your students to Jack Kilby, teach them about the integrated circuit and show them how science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) is all around them.

I want to inspire innovation in my students! What can I do?

  1. Watch this video to learn more about Jack Kilby.
  2. Teach your students about the integrated circuit.
  3. Use this worksheet in your classroom to help students understand that engineering is everywhere.

We'd love to know if you use these resources in your classroom and other ways you're promoting innovation with your students.

The first five teachers who share on social media with #JackKilbyDay will have the chance to receive a fun surprise!

Thank you for all you do to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders.
