Precalculus: How Many? (Precalculus)

by Texas Instruments

Overview

Students will be presented a situation in which they must use linear programming to determine the optimum production level to maximize profits.

Key Steps

  • Image

In this activity, students will be presented with two situations in which they must use linear programming to determine the optimum production level to maximize profits. Students will first use the Inequality Graphing app to graph the constraints.

  • Image

Once the constraints are graphed, students will use Point of Interest Trace to find the maximum profit.

In the second problem, students will then repeat the procedure to determine what mix of meats a barbeque catering business should maintain to maximize profit.
