This lesson will introduce students to many of the algebraic graphing features of the TI-89 calculator, especially the Maximum command. This will be accomplished by solving volumes of right rectangular prisms. (Algebra / geometry activity)
Before the Activity
Students should have access to TI-89/TI-89 Titanium.
During the Activity
The teacher will guide stuednts with the first activity using the TI-89 calculator, while the second activitiy will be an in-class exercise.
After the Activity
Review student results and, as a class, discuss questions that appeared to be more challenging. Re-teach concepts as necessary.
