This activity focuses on the properties of special quadrilaterals.

Before the Activity

Install the Cabri Jr. App on the students' graphing calculators using TI-Connect™, a TI Connectivity Cable and the Unit-to-Unit Link Cable

During the Activity

Distribute the pages to your class.

Follow the Activity procedures:

Construct a quadrilateral, a kilte, a trapezoid, an isosceles trapezoid, a parallelogram, a rhombus, a rectangle, and a square

Use various construction and measurement tools to investigate the properties of the special quadrilaterals

Construct the quadrilaterals again, this time using properties observed that are different from the properties of minimal definitions

Drag the vertices and sides of the quadrilaterals constructed to ensure that they retain the properties used to construct them

After the Activity

Review student results:

As a class, discuss questions that appeared to be more challenging

Re-teach concepts as necessary
