Using the TI-Navigator, students will send linear equations with STAR WARS movie pictures in the background. Focus on slope and y-intercept with linear lightsabers.
Before the Activity
Students should know the standard form of a linear equation (y=mx+b), that Slope is the change in y over the change in x, and that the Y-Intercept is the location where the graph intersects the y-axis.
During the Activity
It is up to the teacher to allow students to resubmit equations. Students could work in groups or individually.
After the Activity
The final activity has multiple lightsabers (lines). This can lead to a class discussion about a SYSTEM OF LINEAR EQUATIONS and give the class a preview of things to come.
