Have the class brainstorm and form a list of 10 movies.
Put the students in pairs.
Have each student rate each of the movies from 1 to 10 (10 = loved it, 1 = hated it).
Have 1 student of each pair log into navigator.
The students should form ordered pairs of their ratings. The person on the left will be x and the person on the right will be y. They should enter their data into L1 and L2, with the x value in L1 and the y value in L2. Remind them to keep the ordered pairs together.
Students should do a scatter plot of their data. (Make sure they do it on the calculator connected to navigator.)
Once all pairs or students have their graphs on the calculators do a screen capture of the class. Display students names.
Have the class discuss the graphs and identify them as positive, negative or no correlation. Also, have them discuss whether the correlation is strong or weak.
Have each student pair use the calculator to find the correlation coefficient and the regression equation for their data.
Do a screen capture and display the results.
Have the class discuss the meaning of the correlation coefficient for each pair of students.
