Instructions
Drawing and displaying your own graphics is a great way to personalize your TI calculator. Once you get the hang of the process, you can be the envy of all your friends. So follow the steps below. If you run into any trouble, look at the Startup Manual, ask a friend or call 1-800-TI-CARES for help.
* To create an image on your computer:
Launch your favorite painting or drawing program. Change the width of the drawing area to 92 pixels and the height to 68 pixels. (If you have the option of setting the resolution, change it to 72.) Not the biggest of canvases, but what do you expect? It has to show up on a calculator screen!
Create your drawing. Save it as a bitmap (.BMP), and name it pic0, pic1 or pic2. Anything up to pic9. You can store up to 10 graphics at a time on your TI-84 Plus Silver Edition. Follow the prompts on your calculator to make your newly created graphic open at start up.
* To draw a picture directly on your TI-84 Plus Silver Edition:
Hit [2ND] and then [PRGM] to get to the DRAW menu. Scroll up one time to select A:Pen, and hit [ENTER]. (If you want to get rid of the graphing axes, hit [2ND] [ZOOM] to access the FORMAT menu. Scroll down to the fourth line and turn the axes off. Just don't forget to turn them back on before you go to math class!!)
Place the cursor on the point where you want to begin drawing. Press [ENTER] to turn on the pen, and then just move the cursor. As you move the cursor, you draw on the graph one pixel at a time.
Press [ENTER] again to turn off the pen. To continue drawing on the graph, move the cursor to a new position where you want to begin drawing again, and then repeat the steps above. To cancel Pen, press [CLEAR]. Save the picture by hitting [2ND] [DRAW] and then scroll to the right two times. Select StorePic by pressing enter. When "StorePic" appears on the home screen, simply enter a number 0-9, and [ENTER]. Your graphic is now saved under the file name pic0, pic1, pic2, etc.
