Module 12 - Rules of Differentiation

  Introduction | Lesson 1 | Lesson 2 | Self Test

 Introduction

Discovering a rule or theorem is more interesting than watching someone else state and prove it. The discovery process creates a sense of ownership and a natural inclination to prove the theorem. In this module you will use the TI-83 to provide clues about rules of differentiation. You can then make conjectures about rules of differentiation and use the calculator to support your conjectures graphically. Providing graphical support for analytical work is common in courses that utilize technology.

Lesson Index:

12.1 - Discovering Rules of Differentiation

12.2 - Rules of Differentiation: Applications and Graphical Support

After completing this module, you should be able to do the following:

  • Use the TI-83 to provide graphical clues for rules of differentiation
  • Use and apply rules of differentiation
  • Use the TI-83 to provide graphical support for your analytic work
