 Introduction

A large number of real-world problems may be modeled by transformations of a fairly small set of basic functions. In this module you will investigate absolute value, exponential and logarithmic functions and their transformations and find a transformed exponential function that models a set of data.

Lesson Index:

    3.1 - Stretches and Reflections

3.2 - Translations and Combined Transformations

3.3 - Exponential and Logarithmic Functions

    3.4 - Cooling Liquids

After completing this module, you should be able to do the following:

  • Stretch, shrink, shift and reflect graphs of functions
  • Model and solve problems with exponential functions
  • Illustrate some of the rules for logarithms using transformations
  • Find an exponential regression equation that models a set of data
