Prepare for Exams

Many national exams include graphing calculators in their approved resources for test-taking. The following exams either recommend, permit, require, or expect students to use graphing calculators.

Bring the right calculator

Many national exams require or recommend a graphing calculator. Be prepared by bringing an approved graphing calculator to the test.

SAT* and PSAT/NMSQT* Program Resources

A graphing calculator is recommended for use on the SAT® and SAT Subject Tests™ – Math Level 1 and Math Level 2. In addition, the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) also recommends use of a graphing calculator on the exam.

Advanced Placement Program* (AP*) Resources

A graphing calculator is recommended for use on sections of the AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC and AP Statistics exams. In addition, a graphing calculator is allowed for use on the free response sections of the AP Chemistry and AP Physics BC exams.
