Statistical Modeling with the TI-84 Plus Family

Speakers: Speakers: John LaMaster, Mike Koehler

Statistical models allow students to make informed decisions based on data. In the webinar, we will explore free, standards-aligned activities for the TI-84 Plus family that provide students with the tools to develop and apply statistical models. Learn how middle grades students can model data with a scatter plot. With the Manual-Fit and Linear Regression commands, students can determine a line of best fit to make and evaluate predictions, even when there is variability in the data set. See how high school students can apply and extend this understanding to develop more advanced mathematical models. Learn how the TI-84 Plus family can enhance students’ descriptive and analytic modeling proficiency with multiple representations.

Science Nspired – Engaging Simulations with the TI-Nspire™ App for iPad®

Speakers: Speakers: Greg Dodd, Fred Fotsch

With free, interactive simulations from Science Nspired, the all-in-one TI‑Nspire™ App for iPad® makes teaching and learning science more engaging, meaningful, and fun! In this webinar, we will explore premade iPad®-compatible lessons across the middle grades and high school science curriculum. Learn how dynamic, hands-on simulations allow students to explore the scientific concepts behind real-world phenomena by formulating hypotheses, adjusting parameters, observing the effects on various models, and evaluating their reasoning. Many iPad®-compatible simulations from Science Nspired are adapted from research-based PhET™ simulations. By supporting a hands-on, powerfully visual approach to learning, the TI‑Nspire™ App for iPad® changes the way students experience science and helps them develop a deeper conceptual understanding.
