Want to learn more about integrating TI technology into your classroom? We have the workshop for you!

Designed for educators who are implementing the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics (CCSS), Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), Science and Engineering Practices, or for those who want to integrate TI technology in the classroom, the Teachers Teaching with Technology™ (T³) Summer Workshops will show you how to incorporate technology in your lessons.

Led by a certified T³ Instructor, TI summer workshops offer an invaluable learning opportunity, with hands-on activities you can use right away and TI technology included in the registration cost.

### Implementing the Common Core State Standards for Mathematical Practices with TI-Nspire™ Technology

Platform: **TI-Nspire™ CX handhelds and TI-Nspire™ Teacher Software**

Subject: **Middle Grades and High School Mathematics**

This workshop equips teachers with techniques to excite and engage students using Common Core Math Practices. It will use both the TI-Nspire™ CX handheld and TI-Nspire™ Teacher Software.

TI-Nspire technology will be introduced in the context of middle grades and high school mathematics curriculum. An emphasis will be placed on pedagogy and the implementation of effective and appropriate use of technology in an interactive mathematics classroom, in alignment with the CCSS Math Practices. Participants will reflect on what steps are needed to get the students engaged in the CCSS Math Practices through case studies, video and task analysis.

### Implementing the TEKS Mathematical Process Standards with TI-Nspire™ Technology

Platform: **TI-Nspire™ CX handhelds and TI-Nspire™ Teacher Software**

This workshop is designed for educators who want to implement the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) Mathematical Process Standards in middle grades and high school classrooms using TI-Nspire™ technology. The TEKS Math Process Standards are introduced in the context of dynamic, interactive lessons.

**Day One**identifies the Process Standards in action through video analysis of students engaged in rich tasks. After an overview of essential TI-Nspire™ CX handheld skills, educators will discuss classroom applications and how technology can support the Process Standards.**Day Two**provides additional coverage of the Process Standards and educators will examine questioning strategies that promote student learning.**Day Three**includes deeper discussion of techniques for engaging students in the Process Standards as educators explore formative assessment opportunities and reflect on the role of technology in its implementation.

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants should be ready to begin implementing the TEKS Process Standards in their classrooms using TI-Nspire technology.

### Implementing Science and Engineering Practices with TI-Nspire™ Technology

Platform: **TI-Nspire™ CX handhelds, TI-Nspire™ Teacher Software, TI-Nspire™ Lab Cradle and Data Collection Sensors**

Subject: **Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Precalculus, Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, Physics **

This workshop explores strategies for identifying, implementing, and mutually reinforcing science and engineering practices using TI-Nspire technology. Instructional strategies and learning outcomes will focus on the integration of technology, engineering, and mathematics into the science curriculum.

Quantitative investigations, analyses, and simulations involving TI-Nspire technology will be used to define problems and develop solutions. An emphasis will be placed on developing and using models, planning and executing investigations involving data collection, analyzing and interpreting data, and using computational thinking to construct explanations and design solutions. Engineering practices will be applied to problem-solving scenarios involving the physical sciences, life sciences, and earth and space sciences.

### Exploring Common Core Topics in Algebra with TI-Nspire™ Technology

Subject: **Algebra 1 and Statistics **

This workshop is designed for educators who need support in transitioning to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS)for high school Algebra. It covers basic features of the TI-Nspire™ CX handheld and TI-Nspire™ Teacher Software, with an emphasis on building pedagogical skills for leading discussions and engaging students in the Mathematical Practices.

The TI-Nspire CX handheld is introduced in the context of dynamic, interactive Algebra lessons that are aligned to the Common Core State Standards.

**Day One** identifies main Algebra support needs with coverage of key CCSS domains and clusters. Educators will be introduced to the Common Core Mathematical Practice along with essential TI-Nspire™ technology skills.

**Day Two** includes broader Algebra coverage with opportunities for differentiation based on teacher needs. The TI-Nspire™ Teacher Software will be introduced and educators will discuss the role of technology in the Mathematical Practices.

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants should be ready to use TI-Nspire technology to deepen students’ understanding of key CCSS topics in Algebra.

### Exploring Common Core Topics in Geometry with TI-Nspire™ Technology

Platform: **TI-Nspire™ CX handhelds and TI-Nspire™ Navigator™**

Subject: **Middle Grades through High School Mathematics and Geometry **

Designed for educators who are interested in or just beginning to use TI-Nspire™ technology, this workshop covers the basics of the TI-Nspire™ handheld while focusing on Geometry topics throughout the high school curriculum. Special emphasis will be placed on key domains and clusters in the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics (CCSS) including how TI-Nspire™ technology can encourage students to investigate geometric relationships, make conjectures, and evaluate their reasoning.

Pre-made lessons will also be used to explore similarity and congruence through transformations. Techniques for increasing student understanding of various triangle and circle relationships will also be covered. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be comfortable using pre-made Math Nspired lessons and performing basic operations on the TI-Nspire™ handheld.

This workshop is designed for educators who are interested in or are just beginning to use TI-Nspire technology. It will cover the basics to get started with the technology and teaching with it. This will comprise the use of both the handheld and the Teacher Software.

TI-Nspire technology will be introduced in the context of the high school mathematics curriculum, with topics from Algebra and Geometry up through Calculus. Participants will also explore various topics including learning resources such as Math Nspired, designed to support further use of TI-Nspire technology and classroom implementation. At the conclusion of the three days, participants should have a comfort level with using pre-made documents and basic skills for graphing, geometry and the other applications of TI-Nspire technology.

### TI-Nspire™ for Intermediate Users: High School Mathematics

Platform: **TI-Nspire™ CX handhelds, TI-Nspire™ CX CAS handhelds, TI-Nspire™ Navigator™, TI-Nspire™ Teacher Software**

Subject: **Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, Calculus **

This workshop equips teachers with techniques to excite and engage students in high school mathematics. A variety of topics will be covered including Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, Calculus and Statistics. Activities will emphasize the reasoning, sense-making and understanding that TI-Nspire technology can offer in an interactive mathematics classroom aligning with the Common Core State Standards Mathematical Practice (CCSS). Participants will receive guidance, create their own activities, and enhance formative assessment opportunities.

### TI-Nspire™ CAS for Intermediate Users: High School Mathematics

Platform: **TI-Nspire™ CX CAS handhelds and TI-Nspire™ CX handhelds**

Subject: **Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Precalculus, Calculus, Statistics**

This workshop is designed for educators who have some familiarity with TI-Nspire Computer Algebra System (CAS) technology. It will review and reinforce the basics for using the technology and cover additional new features in the TI-Nspire CX CAS. This will comprise the use of both the handheld and the TI-Nspire Teacher Software.

TI-Nspire technology will be introduced in the context of the high school curriculum with activities specific to the use of CAS functionality. Participants will also explore learning resources such as Math Nspired designed to support further use of TI-Nspire technology and discussions on their integration. At the conclusion of the three days, participants should have a greater comfort level in the use of pre-made documents and basic TI-Nspire technology application skills.

### Transitioning to the TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition in High School Mathematics

Platform: **TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition and TI-SmartView™**

Subject: **High School Mathematics**

Designed for educators currently using the TI-83 Plus or TI-84 Plus family, this workshop explores how to use the TI-84-Plus C graphing calculator to enhance students’ analytical and problem-solving abilities across the high school mathematics curriculum. Participants will:

- Learn how color can be effectively used to help students distinguish relationships and make stronger connections between concepts
- Explore key features promoting investigation of patterns and functions across multiple representations
- Increase students’ understanding of key statistical concepts by graphing and analyzing univariate and bivariate data
- Use on-screen background images to make real-world connections
- Learn effective strategies for integrating TI Connect™ and TI-SmartView™ software into the classroom

This workshop is designed for educators who are interested in or beginning to use the TI-84 Plus or TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition in the middle grades mathematics classroom. It covers basic features and functionality of the TI-84 Plus family with additional focus on the TI-SmartView emulator software and TI Connect software.

The TI-84 Plus is introduced in the context of interactive lessons for the middle grades math classroom.

**Day One**includes an overview of the TI-84 Plus including general calculator, graphing, and statistical functionality. Educators will explore interactive lessons with pre-made student questions and teacher notes along with basic features of the TI-SmartView and TI Connect software.**Day Two**includes additional coverage of the TI-84 Plus including features for modeling with multiple representations.**Day Three**includes deeper technology coverage with an emphasis on classroom applications and opportunities for differentiation based on educators’ subject areas and technology needs.

### Exploring TEKS Topics in Middle Grades Mathematics with TI-Nspire™ Technology

Platform: **TI-Nspire™ CX handhelds and TI-Nspire™ Teacher Software**

Subject: **Middle Grades Mathematics, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1**

This workshop is designed for educators who need support in transitioning to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for middle grades mathematics, with a focus on Grade 8 Mathematics. It covers basic features of the TI-Nspire™ CX handheld and TI-Nspire™ Teacher Software, while building pedagogical skills for leading discussions and engaging students in the Mathematical Process Standards. Starting in the 2014-15 school year, the TI-Nspire CX handheld IS allowed on the STAAR Grade 8 Mathematics Assessment.

The TI-Nspire CX handheld is introduced in the context of dynamic, interactive lessons that are aligned to the TEKS. Day One identifies main content support needs, with coverage of important TEKS standards for Pre-Algebra in Grades 6-7 and Algebra in Grade 8. Educators will be introduced to the Mathematical Process Standards, along with essential technology skills for the TI-Nspire handheld and Teacher Software. Day Two includes broader coverage of technology-enhanced lessons across Grades 6-8, with opportunities for differentiation based on teacher needs. Day Three includes deeper discussions about the role of technology in the Mathematical Process Standards. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants should be ready to use TI-Nspire technology to deepen students’ understanding of important TEKS topics in Pre-Algebra and Algebra for Grades 6, 7 and 8.

### Lesson and Assessment Design with TI-Nspire™ Technology

Designed for educators who are interested in designing technology-enhanced lessons for the middle grades or high school mathematics classroom. This workshop emphasizes effective classroom practices with TI-Nspire technology as a tool to enhance student learning. Lesson design is introduced by examining the characteristics of interactive TI-Nspire explorations. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants should be ready to begin developing rich, interactive lessons and assessments built around TI-Nspire documents.
