Platform: TI-73 Explorer
Subject: Middle Grades Mathematics and Middle Grade Science
This workshop is designed for mathematics and science educators who are interested in or just beginning to use the TI-73 Explorer™ graphing calculator to collect and analyze data. In addition to in-depth technology training over an extended period of time, the workshop will also cover pedagogy and leadership training based on research and best practices.
Data collection with the TI-73 Explorer will be introduced in the context of the middle school mathematics and science curricula. Participants will explore data collection with the Calculator-Based Ranger 2™ and Calculator-Based Laboratory2™ data collection devices. The TI-73 Explorer will be used to display data in graphical and tabular forms, providing opportunities to analyze data, identify patterns, and communicate findings through models and predictions. In addition to developing technology skills, mathematics and science teachers will learn techniques for developing integrated lessons that focus on the collection and analysis of data.
