Getting Started with the TI-Nspire™ Navigator™ NC System in High School Mathematics

Designed for educators who are just beginning to use the TI-Nspire™ Navigator™ NC System, this workshop introduces the system through dynamic, pre-made lessons for the high school mathematics classroom.

The workshop showcases a variety of interactive features, and you’ll learn strategies to assess student understanding using pre-made documents and basic Quick Poll questioning techniques. By the end of the workshop, you’ll be able to use the TI-Nspire™ Navigator™ NC System in the classroom.

Overview

This workshop is available in one-, two- and three-day options to accommodate educator-specific needs. A half-day workshop option is also available. The two- and three-day workshops offer a more extensive exploration of topics.

  • Overview of the TI-Nspire™ Navigator™ NC System, including basic formative assessment techniques.
  • Exploration of interactive lessons, with opportunities to practice TI-Nspire™ Navigator™ NC skills.
  • Introduction to calculations and graphing with TI-Nspire™ software.
workshop-2-day
  • Additional opportunities to practice using the Live Presenter, Class Capture and Quick Poll features.
  • Small-group role play to practice creating, sending and collecting TI-Nspire™ documents to assess student understanding.
  • Exploration of online resources.
workshop-3-day
  • Deeper coverage of assessment strategies, including creating TI-Nspire™ assessment documents and organizing student results in the Portfolio Workspace.
  • Introduction to data aggression, where individual student data is collected, combined into one data set, and sent back to the class for investigation.
  • Opportunities for differentiation based on educators’ classroom needs.

Areas of Focus

This workshop focuses on appropriate use of the TI-Nspire™ Navigator™ NC System, with an emphasis on using interactive features to assess student understanding. Previous experience with TI-Nspire™ software skills is not required, but is beneficial.
