Exploring NASA Topics in High School Mathematics with TI-Nspire™ Technology

This workshop is designed to equip beginning and intermediate TI-Nspire™ users with lessons and resources involving actual data and problem situations from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Use TI-Nspire™ technology to model and analyze a variety of space-exploration topics such as reduced-gravity flight, the ascent of a space shuttle, astronauts’ range of motion, low Earth orbits, Newton’s Law of Cooling, guidance and navigation, and bone-density loss.

Overview

This in-person workshop is available in one- and two-day options to accommodate educator-specific needs. A half-day workshop option is also available. The two-day workshop offers a more extensive exploration of topics. A virtual workshop is also available in multiple two- or three-hour sessions.

workshop-1-day
  • TI-Nspire™ technology overview, including general calculator, graphing and statistical functionality.
  • Interactive NASA exploration, featuring TI-Nspire™ activities for Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2.
workshop-2-day
  • Exploration of a broader range of NASA topics.
  • Additional coverage of TI-Nspire™ technology, including features for transforming functions and modeling with multiple representations.
  • Wider exploration of topics across Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Precalculus and Statistics.
