| This regional workshop is designed specifically for Iowa math teacher educators to share strategies for training pre-service teachers and graduate students to use the latest technology effectively in high school classrooms. TI-Nspire's dynamically linked, multiple representation capabilities allow math teacher educators to present problems to pre-service teachers and graduate students using numeric, algebraic, geometrical and graphical approaches. This workshop will focus on how to make the best use of the new capabilities of the TI-Nspire by choosing appropriate tasks and asking questions that encourage pre-service teachers to explore and make connections.
Please note: It is not required that you be familiar or comfortable with graphing technology to attend this workshop.
Math teacher educators who attend the workshop should identify a minimum of 2 opportunities to integrate TI-Nspire in their teacher preparation courses. TI will support MTEs through:
|
| | Access to technology - MTEs will receive a personal copy of the TI-Nspire learning handheld and a single user license of TI-Nspire Computer Software - Teacher Edition. They also receive five (5) TI-Nspire or TI-Nspire CAS handhelds to use in their teacher preparation classes. |
| | Coaching/mentorship - Up to 5 hours 1:1 coaching time with a T³™ college instructor following the MTE workshop |
| | Pre-service Technology Workshop - MTEs will each encourage a minimum of 5 pre-service secondary (or middle-grades) teachers to attend a 9-hour Pre-service Technology Workshop in February 2010 at the ICTM conference led by a certified T³ instructor, who will discuss strategies for the appropriate and effective use of TI-Nspire learning technology. |
 |
| Pre-service teachers attending the 9-hour Pre-service Technology Workshop in Spring 2010 at the Iowa NCTM conference will receive:
|
| | One single user license of TI-Nspire Teacher Edition computer software ($80 approximate value)
