Materials and Facilities Requirements
The materials and facilities requirements outlined below are intended for a 9 day institute. Depending on the number of days and activities chosen these requirements may change.

A computer lab is not required for instruction but access to at least one computer connected to the Internet is essential for loading the Handheld Software Applications (Apps) associated with this course, updating operating systems for the handhelds, and other up to date information from Texas Instruments. Hands-on time for everyone is desirable to learn the App loading and operating system update procedures.

Materials list:
The following is a list of equipment and materials that the organizer must provide:

One cup measuring devices
100 kOhm Resistors, Radio Shack® catalog # 271-1347 - or equivalent
220 micro-farad Capacitors, Radio Shack catalog # 272-1017 - or equivalent)
9-volt Battery
Collections of beakers ranging in sizes from 150 ml to 1000 ml (at least 2 different sizes in each collection)
Board or ramp (at least 1.5 meters in length)
Different rolling cars to fit on the ramp described above
Graduated cylinders (100 ml)
Bags of M&Ms®-type candies
Rolls of masking tape
Meter sticks
Mini MagLite® (a focusing flashlight)
Laser or Laser Pointer
Racquet Balls
Paper Clips (small)
Permanent markers (black)
Bottle of Distilled Water
2 liter pitcher for water
Plastic aquarium tubing (3.2 mm inner diameter)
Styrofoam cups
Triple Beam Balance
Liter bottles of vegetable oil, glycerin, or dark corn syrup (at least one liter)
Fishing weight (about 25 grams)
Box of Dry Spaghetti
Ball of string
5x7 or 3x5 Cards
Pads of Post-It® notes
Box of Acetates for overhead projector
Pennies (pre 1983)
Eye Dropper
Test tubes
Lamp with assortment of light bulbs (150, 100, 60, and 40 Watt)

Stopwatches or timers in seconds

Access to the Following:
Transparencies for a copy machine
Hot water (hot plate and pot to heat if necessary), Cold water, and Ice
Copy machine
Swimming pool or 6 feet of water in PVC pipe
Large screen TV with RCA video input
Access to a computer lab (or at least 1 Computer at a minimum)
At Least 1 Printer
2 overhead projectors and screens
Computer LCD panel (a minimum of 2 hours)
Access to the Internet (a minimum of 2 hours)
Microsoft Office® (Word®, Excel®, PowerPoint®)
Netscape®-type browser
