Participants will learn new teaching strategies and will have opportunities for hands-on experience. The goal of the AgriScience Institute is to instruct teachers in new and innovative methods of data collection with real-life applications. The workshop is intended for agricultural, science and mathematics teachers who are seeking to enhance their curriculum with the use of technology.

Standards:
Materials for this institute were written in the spirit of the Kentucky Production Agriculture Skills Standards Document, the National Science Standards, and the Principles and Standards for School Mathematics.

Testimonials
As the state director of Kentucky Tech Prep, I fully support the concept and initiatives of AgriScience. This initiative targets two of the major components and Goals of Tech Prep Implementation: Integrates vocational agriculture content with academic (science and math) content; Infuses the use of technology in the vocational-technical classroom and lab activities. Both of these practices will strengthen integration of academic and technical education, hands-on activities, classroom instruction and prepare our students to become proficient learners, competitive skilled workers and better prepared with the necessary foundations to build a marketable future for life.

State Director

The AgriScience Institute certainly changed the way I think about teaching in my classroom and learning laboratories. Through this institute, I am now able to integrate math and technology into my everyday lessons so that my students may develop a bridge between their math classes and their agricultural science classes. This enables my students to see the practical uses and applications of materials they believed before, would never benefit them in the real world.
