| TI is concerned about mounting electronic waste as well as the proper disassembly and disposal of our products at the end of their useful life. TI works to reduce waste by designing Education Technology products using Flash technology. This enables consumers to add software applications, extending the life and long-term value of the product. We also increase product lifespan by designing products durable enough to withstand years of use in classrooms. TI also participates in various European country-specific take-back program for our Education Technology devices.
Our recycling of retail display packaging for handheld educational devices is also carried out in many European countries under the Green Dot program. A green dot indicates that the packaging is part of a privately organized recycling system and that corresponding expenses have been paid.
Outside Europe, government jurisdictions have different ideas about how to manage electronic waste. To ensure compliance, Education Technology team members continuously monitor the varying requirements for registration/certification, labeling, batteries and product packaging
Due to the varied local regulations and practices, TI recommends you contact your local recycler or government agency to determine what is appropriate in your area.
