In this section you will find links to useful information and resources for classroom research.

The NCETM conducts many research projects, with the aim:

To find “what works” in terms of professional development in mathematics
To develop a culture of action research being part of CPD by encouraging teachers to become active researchers and supporting them in doing so
To produce case studies and reports through which the NCETM can communicate the messages from the research
To engage teachers with research
To develop communities of practice as a result of the research

Becta's website contains resources to help conduct and write up research reports. The "Practitioner research: How do I do it?" guide outlines various methods you could use to capture evidence during your practitioner research. It also provides advice on analysing your data and writing up your report at the end of your research.

A systematic review of the use of ICTs in developing pupils’ understanding of algebraic ideas

This review is set in the context of the National Strategies for primary and secondary education in England and Wales, which are both part of the drive to raise standards in schools. The use of a range of ICTs is encouraged by these strategies in the expectation that effective use of ICTs, which requires substantial funding, will raise standards. The review was commissioned by the TDA (Training and Development Agency).
