TI-Nspire™ Network Administrator Support


Prerequisites
The information below describes software and hardware requirements and identifies software technologies that are incompatible with the installation of TI-Nspire™ software.
Operating System Requirements
TI-Nspire™ computer software products have been tested and verified to install and operate on the following computer operating systems and platforms:
Windows® 2000 with Service Pack 4
Windows® XP (Home and Professional version) with Service Pack 2
Windows® Vista Home PremiumWindows® Vista Business
Windows® Vista Ultimate
Requires version 3.1 MSI V2 of Microsoft® Software Installer. By default the installation process installs and/or upgrades the existing MSI version to version 3.1v2
Minimum Hardware Requirements
The computer that will be used to launch and run TI-Nspire™ computer software or TI-Nspire™ CAS computer software must meet the following hardware requirements:
PIII 900 MHz Pentium-compatible CPU
Video adapter set at 1024 x 768 screen resolution
512 MB of RAM recommended
Approximately 480 MB of available hard-disk space. (TI-Nspire™ computer software uses approximately 250 MB of hard-disk space for installation. Additional space should be reserved for user-created content)
To successfully install the software, the installation must take place using an account with administrator rights on the target computer.
To successfully activate the software, an Internet connection must be available during installation.
Supported Network Environments
The network installation method of deploying TI-Nspire™ software has been tested and verified on Novell® e-directory™ 8.8, Windows® 2000 and Windows® 2003 domains and Windows® Workgroups.
Unsupported Environments
TI-Nspire™ products will not install on Windows® Server Platforms or on platforms not listed above.
Currently, TI-Nspire™ does not support installation within a Microsoft® terminal services framework. Citrix® and Microsoft Softgrid® application deployment and support is also not supported at this time.
Installations on computers running as part of a virtual environment (VMware® and Microsoft® Virtual Machine 2007 as examples) are also not supported at this time.
Internet Security Software Compatibility
TI-Nspire™ computer software is experiencing some compatibility issues (installation failures) with security packages such as Norton® Internet Security suite and Norton® 360. Many of these installation issues may be alleviated by turning off the Internet security software during the installation.
