Activity Overview

Students use the calculator to improve their number sense, analysis, and reasoning. They find numbers, given their product.

Before the Activity

  • Review the rules for divisibility
  • See the attached PDF file for detailed instructions for this activity
  • Print pages 6 - 10 from the attached PDF file for your class


  • During the Activity

    Distribute the pages to the class.

    Follow the activity procedures:
  • Ask students to find any six numbers between 10 and 20 and determine their product
  • Enter the product on the calculator and using the divisibility rules on the transparency, divide the number, and record the factors
  • Use the factors and mathematical reasoning to find the six numbers
  • Repeat the activity with other six numbers


    After the Activity

    Students complete the Student Activity pages.

  • Review student results
  • As a class, discuss questions that appeared to be more challenging
  • Re-teach concepts as necessary
