During the Activity

Distribute the pages to the class.

Follow the Activity procedures:

Choose two numbers, a and b as the first two terms in a sequence of ten numbers

Generate the next eight terms in the sequence where each number is equal to the sum of the two preceding numbers

Use the distributive property to find the number of a's and b's in the sequence

Observe that there are 55 a's and 88 b's in the sequence

Notice that 55a + 88b gives the sum of the sequence

Observe that (11 * the seventh term of the sequence) also results in the sum of the sequence

After the Activity

Students will complete the Worksheet and analyze the results.

Review student results:

As a class, discuss questions that appeared to be more challenging

Re-teach concepts as necessary
