In this activity, students will develop a method to graph a predator-prey population model. They will analyze the data and gain an understanding of populations dynamics.

  • During the Activity

    Distribute the pages to your class.

    Follow the Activity procedures:
  • Graph the population of the lynx and the hare over time
  • Examine the variation in population size
  • Understand what factors affect animal populations


    After the Activity

    Students will complete Student Data Collection and Analysis Sheet.

    Review student results
  • As a class, discuss questions that appeared to be more challenging
  • Re-teach concepts as necessary
