The Geometric Mean
 


Activity Overview

Students will:
  • Construct a right triangle with one altitude.
  • Establish that several triangles are similar and verify that one side is the geometric mean between two other segments.
  • Try to alter the properties of their construction by moving the vertices.
    		•

    		This activity will help students visualize the geometric mean and connect the algebraic definition with the geometric construction.
