Can You Take The Pressure?

Activity Overview

Students will use the Vernier EasyLink© and the Gas Pressure Sensor to determine the volume of a gas in a container under different pressures. They will also graph the pressure/volume data and interpret their graphs.

Before the Activity

Students should have either TI-83 or TI-84 Plus calculator. The attached .pdf form should be printed, copied, and distributed to students.

During the Activity

Perform the procedures outlined in the printed .pdf form and use the Vernier EasyLink© and the Gas Pressure Sensor. Students will understand the relationship between pressure and volume of a confined gas at a constant temperature.

After the Activity

  • Review student results
  • As a class, discuss questions that appeared to be more challenging
  • Re-teach concepts as necessary
