Activity Overview

Use the DATA GRAPHS WIZARD to learn about how disease is spread. Brainstorm ways in which people can help stop an outbreak of disease.

Before the Activity

Students should have either a TI-83 or TI-84 Plus along with SciTools application. The attached .pdf form should be printed, copied, and distributed to students.

During the Activity

Perform the procedures outlined in the printed .pdf form including the creation of list L1 and L2. Students will learn though data analysis that calculations illustrate how quickly a virus can spread in a typical population.

After the Activity

  • Review student results
  • As a class, discuss questions that appeared to be more challenging
  • Re-teach concepts as necessary
