Overview
In this activity, students will use the CBL 2™ with a force sensor to measure the weight of 100 pennies in Newtons. Then they will calculate the weight of 100 pennies on the moon, Mars, Saturn, and Jupiter.
Key Steps
-
Students will record the force of different numbers of pennies.
-
Once the data is collected, students will create a scatter plot comparing the different numbers of pennies and their force in Newtons.
-
Students will analyze the plot and data answering questions about the correlation of the force and the pennies. They will also determine the weight of different amounts of pennies on different celestial bodies such as the moon and Jupiter.
