Overview
Students collect data on voltage and graph in a histogram. Then, they compare the values of different batteries with the use of the graph and lists.
Key Steps
-
Students will explore several items to determine how effective they would be as a battery.
They will use the voltage probe with a zinc washer and a penny placed in items such as a potato, a banana, or broccoli.
-
Students will collect voltage data and display as a histogram and a circle graph. They will pick the item that was the best battery.
-
Students will then collect the voltage of the battery over time. They will use this information to display a line graph and find a manual-fit line. Students will determine the rate of change of voltage over time by measuring the best battery over time.
